Our skin needs the right nutrients to repair and to stay youthful.

Unfortunately the nutritional value of our food has deteriorated over the years due to industrial farming leaving much of the soil empty so they need to add chemicals to ensure the growth of the produce. So if we were to eat our required daily vitamins and minerals in food form, we will have to eat mountains worth of food all the time which doesn’t leave much room for anything else plus all the extra calories and chemicals.

Hence why I recommend supplements.

We need supplements to help mop up chemicals and free radicals in our environment which prematurely ages us. It also helps to replenish our nutrient reserves, boost immunity and balance hormones.

Now I have to stress that taking supplements ONLY works if you are also working towards healthy eating habits and a healthy gut. It’s not meant to replace good nutrition, but to support it.

In this blog, I share with you the minimum supplements I recommend taking for beautiful youthful skin especially if you’re on a budget. The brands I’ve chosen I’ve done so because of their quality, purity and effectiveness.

1) Multivitamin + Multimineral

This is an absolute basic you will need. It’s meant to replenish your nutrient reserves and even more important if you have a busy lifestyle. You can put them next to your fridge, coffee machine, smoothie blender or pantry, wherever you will go to in the morning so you make sure you don’t forget to take them.

  1. a) Complete Multi Powder with added Co-Q10 + prebiotic immune support from Innate Response Formula if you don’t like swallowing capsules.

OR

  1. b) If you’re over 40 years old, I would recommend the Women’s Over 40 One Daily Multivitamin from Innate Response Formula as well

– all the vitamins + minerals, a nice botanical + immune blend to balance hormones, boost your energy and maintain your moods.

2) Omega 3

These are essential fatty acids which means our bodies cannot produce them so we have to take it in food/ supplement. These are great for reducing inflammation, supporting healthy hormone production, brain function, repairing + hydrating skin. Good for acne, eczema and dry hair. Also good to maintain healthy cholesterol levels, boosting energy, reducing risk of heart disease + strokes

  1. Omega Avail from Designs for Health. This does not give the fishy after taste or fishy reflux an hour later which is great.

OR

  1. Ultimate Oil Blend from Udo’s Choice if you are a vegetarian. This also comes in liquid form which you can put in your smoothie or drizzle over salad if you don’t like to swallow capsules.

3) MSM

Okay, it’s mainly aimed at supporting joint health (increasing the comfort of movement) but it also acts as a vital component of building joint tissue, cartilage, skin, hair, and nails. It’s a naturally occurring sulphur compound and many models swear by it.

(MSM) Methylsulfonylmethane capsules from Life Extension.

It comes in powder form too but it’s better in a capsule as the shell protects it from being broken down by the stomach acid and you absorb it in the right place i.e. the small intestine to be used as building blocks for your skin.

I hope you find this blog useful.
